How BenzaClin Works

BenzaClin
is an effective acne treatment because it is based on the unique combination of the antibiotic clindamycin and the anti-bacterial agent benzoyl, both of which are known to reduce acne lesions to a significant extent. A number of studies have reported that these ingredients are more effective in treating acne when working together than either ingredient is by itself. Benzoyl peroxide successfully reduces the inflammatory effects of acne and helps in soaking up the oiliness that usually accompanies pimples. This drying effect of benzoyl is mild in nature and allows you to wash away the dirt and excess oil. Clindamycin produces anti-bacterial effects and prevents the growth of bacteria on acne-affected skin. It also decreases acne inflammation.

BenzaClin Precautions

It is important to use BenzaClin exactly as recommended by your doctor. Applying it more often or in larger amounts than prescribed will not make it more effective and may cause serious side effects.

It is essential that you use BenzaClin on a regular basis to get the best results.

Avoid smearing your eyes, nose, mouth or lips with this cream. If this happens accidentally, wash off the cream with water.

BenzaClin should not be applied on skin that is wind-burned, sun-burned, chapped, irritated, dry or broken.

If you have ever suffered from intestinal inflammation (also known as ‘enteritis), or have had ulcerative colitis or severe diarrhea as a reaction to antibiotic medicines, this cream may not be prescribed for you.

BenzaClin can increase your skin’s sensitivity to sunlight and cause sunburn, so avoid exposure to sunlight as well as to artificially-produced ultraviolet rays from tanning beds or sun lamps.

Apply a sunscreen with a minimum Sun Protection Factor (SPF) of 15 and wear protective clothing whenever you go out.

Sunscreen containing PABA is not recommended for people being treated with benzoyl peroxide and clindamycin because it can cause skin discolouration.

You also need to avoid skin products that are likely to cause irritation like harsh shampoos and soaps, skin cleansers, hair colours or permanent dyes, hair removing products along with skin products that contain spices, alcohol, lime or astringents.

Avoid other skin medications unless advised to do so by your doctor.

Benzoyl peroxide can also permanently bleach your hair and clothing.
